Fédt was inspired by the Danish word for “fat,” a reference to the rich, nourishing “fedtcremes” long used in traditional skincare. That idea captured everything I wanted my brand to stand for: whole-ingredient skincare rooted in nature, tradition, and wisdom.
So Fédt became the perfect name for a company built around the restorative power of tallow and other natural fats, formulations that deeply feed, replenish, and support the skin the way nature intended.
The Why
In 2004, a family tragedy catapulted me into the realm of holistic health. The more I learned, the more I wanted to find natural, safe products for my family. I could not readily find any commercial products that were safe and effective, so I did a deep dive into herbalism, homeopathy and nourishing traditions. I devoured every resource I could find on these topics and began my journey with sourdough bread, fermented foods, gardening, soaps, salves, and tinctures and started to make my own products.
Then I discovered tallow skincare and fell in love. Rich, restorative and healing – it is the foundation of most of the products I make. Every product is formulated with intention to nourish the skin without compromise. They are made by hand in small batches with the very best ingredients.
The last twenty years my journey has taken me down many roads and intersections with beautiful people on the same mission – to use clean, natural products that are safe for us and the environment. I am beyond grateful to those who willingly shared their wisdom and experience along the way. My mission is to honor that which has been given me not only by making natural, effective products, but also by sharing that wisdom – more on that to come.
